Children’s Clinical Negligence
Most medical negligence claims involving children arise from a delay in diagnosing childhood conditions/illnesses and infections such as meningitis and septicaemia. Prompt diagnosis and treatment is vital if serious permanent neurological disability or death is to be avoided.
Very young children are particularly at risk of injury arising out of delayed diagnosis and incorrect treatment as they are unable to explain what is wrong and as a result signs and symptoms can be missed.
Children’s claims could be against a paediatrician, a GP, or any other health professional who has contact with the child.
